At least eight victims have been identified so far from the powerful blast near the Red Fort in the national capital, which killed 12 people and injured several others. Among them are an 18-year-old cosmetics shop owner from Uttar Pradesh and a young taxi driver who had come to the city to earn a living.

According to the police, the eight victims identified till now are: Mohsin from Meerut; Ashok Kumar, a DTC conductor from Amroha; Lokesh Gupta, also from Amroha; Dinesh Kumar Mishra from Shravasti; Pankaj Saini from Kanjhawla; Nauman (also spelt Noman) Ansari from Jhinjhana in Shamli; Jumman Mohammed, an e-rickshaw driver; and Amar Kataria.

Officials said the death toll rose to 12 on Tuesday after three more people succumbed to their injuries. Over 20 others remain hospitalised in different parts of the city.

Young Shopkeeper Who Never Returned Home

Eighteen-year-old Nauman Ansari had come to Delhi from Shamli district in western Uttar Pradesh to buy cosmetics for his small shop.

Nauman’s uncle, Furkan, told PTI that the teenager was the sole breadwinner of his family. “Nauman was killed on the spot while his cousin Aman sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi,” he said.

Sonu, another relative who works near the New Delhi Railway Station, recalled the moment he received the devastating news. “Early this morning, I got a call from my uncle saying Nauman was no more and asked me to reach LNJP Hospital,” he said, his voice breaking.

Speaking to ANI, Nauman’s uncle urged authorities to take swift action. “He went to Delhi to buy goods for his shop and never returned… We want strict action against those responsible for this,” he said.

Taxi Driver’s Family

Another victim, 22-year-old Pankaj Saini, was a taxi driver who had been working in Delhi for the past three years. His relative, Ramdev Sahni, said the family received a phone call from Kotwali Police Station on Monday evening informing them of Pankaj’s death.

“He drove a taxi for three years. We were told the backside of his head was blown off. The car, a WagnoR, was completely damaged,” said Sahni, as he waited outside the mortuary to collect his nephew’s body.

Among the other victims was Ashok Kumar, a 34-year-old DTC conductor from Amroha. His colleagues described him as a “quiet and hardworking man” who had recently celebrated his daughter’s birthday.

Probe Underway, Security Tightened

Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act. Multiple raids are being carried out to trace those behind the explosion, officials said. The national capital remains on high alert, with security tightened at airports, railway stations, and major public places.

Security agencies in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh have also stepped up vigilance following the blast.
