Breaking News: Explosions Reported at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport Amid New Wave of Strikes

Reports are emerging of a major attack targeting one of Tehran’s primary commercial airports, Mehrabad International Airport.
Eyewitness footage circulating on social media shows a burning aircraft and large plumes of smoke rising from the airport complex. Mehrabad is Iran’s busiest domestic aviation hub and a key airport serving the capital. Satellite imagery captured on Friday indicates that multiple aircraft were present at the airport prior to the reported strike.
Iranian state media have also confirmed that parts of the airport facility were targeted, though the extent of the damage and the specific areas affected have not yet been verified.
The reported attack comes after the Israeli military announced the launch of what it described as a “broad-scale new wave of strikes” across Iran. Earlier this week, on 4 March, Israeli forces targeted Mehrabad Airport, stating that the operation was aimed at dismantling defence and detection systems considered a threat to Israeli Air Force operations. Those strikes reportedly included facilities linked to helicopter manufacturing within the airport complex.
It remains unclear which sections of the airport were hit in the latest attack. However, witnesses in the area say the intensity of the bombardment tonight appeared significantly greater than in previous strikes.-
